A 30-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision with a Chevy Suburban at 9:49 p.m. Wednesday near the Qwick King gas station on County Road 25 and east of County Road 464.
Taquila Tashay Smith, 23, of Ocklawaha was exiting south out of the gas station preparing to make a left turn onto County Road 25,to travel eastbound, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. A Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Brian Charles Rector of Ocala was traveling westbound on County Road 25, east of County Road 464. The motorcycle collided with the left front of the Suburban, the report indicated. The Suburban went on to hit a fence and a tree.
Rector was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Rector was not wearing a helmet, according to the FHP report.
