Motorcyclist dies following crash in Leesburg

A motorcyclist died Friday morning following a crash at an intersection in Leesburg.

Herman McClenton, 68, of Eustis was driving a 1997 Mercury sedan east on Montclair Road, crossing Thomas Avenue, while Francis Sullivan, 49, of Leesburg was traveling on a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Thomas Avenue when the two vehicles collided at the intersection, according to a Leesburg Police Department accident report. The details of the crash remain under investigation, but preliminary findings indicate that McClenton was at fault in the crash for violation of right-of-way, the report stated.

McClenton was not injured, but his female passenger was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Sullivan was also transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
