Motorcyclist seriously injured in accident in Alachua County

A motorcyclist was seriously injured early Saturday morning in a collision in Alachua County.

Zachery Tyler Crews, 22, of Gainesville was riding a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle shortly before 1 a.m. on State Road 20 in the left lane behind Simon James Jones, 31, of Williston who was driving a 2010 Volkswagen van, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. The front of Crews’ motorcycle struck the rear of the van, the report stated.

Crews was transported to UF Shands Hospital after suffering serious injuries. He had not been wearing a helmet. The traffic crash is still under investigation by FHP.
