A New Jersey man is facing a charge of driving under the influence following his arrest Monday night in a golf cart in Lake Sumter Landing.

Shaun T. Miller, 33, of Medford, N.J. had been driving a golf cart shortly before midnight on Old Mill Run when he was pulled over by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy.

Miller told the deputy he was down visiting in The Villages and that he and his friend, who was in the golf cart with Miller, had been drinking at City Fire, according to the arrest report. A cup containing a mixed drink was in the golf cart, the arrest report indicated.

Miller failed field sobriety exercises.

He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $1,000.

A computer check revealed Miller had no prior history of drunk driving.
