Nearly 400 Megyn Kelly fans, waited patiently to get their books signed at Barnes & Noble on Friday. The Villages and Naples were the only Florida stops on Kelly’s tour for her new book Settle for More.
With the support of Barnes & Noble managers from around the state and Kelly’s entourage the event ran seamlessly and quickly.
You can watch a clip from the event below:
First to get his book signed was Villager Bob Cronin. He divides his time between his home here in the Village of Santo Domingo and New Jersey where he is Kelly’s neighbor. As a joke he presented her with a copy of one of Bill O’Reilly’s “Killing” books to sign. In response Kelly laughed and quipped, “You know the title of his next book? Killing Kelly.” Hearing some in the crowd gasp she assured them it was a long-running joke between her and O’Reilly.
“I really admire how she stood up to Trump,” said Kim Collins. “I told her that when she signed my book and she said ‘I am here for all of you.’”
Another person who admired her standing up to Trump was Villager Mary Lou Mason.
“I watched her during the debate and really started to admire her,” she said.
Using her time in line to read the book Mason continued, “The book is fascinating. She really encourages women. She has given me a voice to stand up for what I believe. Not to be quiet, but to speak up about things that are important to me.”
Most of the admiration for Kelly stemmed from her job on Fox or her handling of the debate, however Brian Grueber’s admiration took a different turn when he got down on one knee and proposed while his book was being signed. Grueber traveled from New Orleans to attend the signing. He presented her with a necklace and ring he had made. Kelly reminded him she was already married and the incident did not slow the efficient book-signing machine down for even a second.
The most discussed part of Kelly’s book during interviews involves her interaction before and after the debate with Trump. Her book also discusses her father’s death when she was a teenager and the road that has led her to where she is today.
