We need a leader with morals

To the Editor:

What is happening?

During the presidential campaign I had many, reasonable and respectful, conversations with my Republican friends. The one line I heard over and over was they liked Trump because “he tells it like it is.”
NO, he does not tell it like it is, he tells it like HE is. How many would have voted for him had he shown his real self, which he surely has done this week. I believe we Americans are kind, loving, caring, honest, people.
We are NOT racist, Nazi, white supremacists. I believe we were all horrified at the events of last weekend in Charlottesville and I believe we are equally horrified at the response from the president and our elected officials.

I get it, Republicans and Democrats think differently about taxes, healthcare, etc. but let’s put that aside and think of our similarities. We care about our families, we care about our neighbors we care about Heather Heyer, although we never knew her, our heats break for her family and friends, we care about all those who suffered and died under the nazi regime, we care about all those sad people we see on TV from war torn areas, we care.  We care.  He does not.

Republican, Democrat, Independent, whatever, we need a leader who cares, we need a leader with morals. He is not that leader.
