A 32-year-old New Jersey man was killed Sunday morning in a rollover crash on the Florida Turnpike in Osceola County.
Antoine Gardner of Elizabeth, N.J. was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which occurred at 9:13 a.m. Sunday on the Turnpike at Mile Marker 214, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
He had been at the wheel of a 2003 GMC SUV which traveled onto the median. He overcorrected and the SUV overturned multiple times. A passenger in the SUV, 24-year-old Jessica Russ of Columbus, Ga. suffered serious injuries and was transported to Osceola Regional Hospital. She had not been wearing a seatbelt, the FHP report noted.
Two other passengers suffered minor injuries. They were 13-year-old Kahlil Herbert and 13-year-old LaQaunjai Chiles both of Columbus, Ga. They were both transported to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital. They had been wearing their seatbelts.
The crash remains under investigation.
