Marion County Information Technology operates under new leadership with the appointment of Tom Northey as Information Systems Director on May 19. Northey replaces Valerie Kendrick, who resigned in April.
Northey has served the citizens of Marion County for more than 20 years, beginning in 1995 as a 911 Technician with 911 Emergency Management. He then transferred to the Office of the County Engineer as an Engineering Technician I before joining the Information Technology department in 2000, where he started as Systems Support Specialist and was promoted through the ranks.
information systems director, Northey will oversee 22 information technology professionals tasked with supporting all technology needs for the Marion County Board of County Commissioners, its departments and other local governmental agencies.
Northey has intense specialized information technology trainings and holds six primary information technology certifications with several sub-certifications ranging from Master Certified Network Engineer to Project Management and Security. He has an Associate of Science in Computer Information Technology and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Management Information Systems.
