The supervisor of Cardiac Rehabilitation at The Villages Regional Hospital has been chosen as 2015 Patient Safety Champion.

Jamie Albritton was nominated by her peers at the hospital for the honor.

TVRH will celebrate National Patient Safety Awareness Week March 8 through 14.

In making the announcement, a hospital news release said Albritton serves as an advocate, role model, educator and leader for patient safety by addressing the safety needs of cardiac rehab patients and preventing incidents from occurring.

“Many patients and families have been complimentary of Jamie and her thorough education she provides on heart disease and diabetes,” said Michele Michaels, Patient Safety Coordinator at TVRH.

Albritton has identified and prevented several possible patient safety incidents and effectively assists the next level provider with handoff communication for continuity of care.

At TVRH’s sister hospital Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Husna Latchman a registered nurse in the ICU and IMCU, received the same honor.
