Ocala food truck shut down when dead roaches discovered by inspector

An Ocala food truck was shut down after it was found to contain numerous roaches and operating without a proper license.

The Mojo on the Go food truck failed an inspection Tuesday, according to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. The food truck was at 4695 SE Maricamp Road at the time of the inspection, the report indicated.

“Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Approximately 16 live roaches on wall under cooking equipment. Approximately six live roaches on floor under service window. Three live roaches on side of reach in cooler next to trash can. One live roach on gasket of make table,” the inspector wrote.

The roaches were classified as a high priority violation.

The truck was also operating without a license from the Division of Hotels and Restaurants.

Other violations noted:

• Interior of refrigerator soiled with accumulation of food residue.

• Build-up of soil/debris on the floor under shelving, under reach-in coolers, counters and triple sink.

• Cutting board(s) stained/soiled.

The food truck was permitted to re-open after a followup inspection.
