Ocala lawyer appointed to succeed judge who handed down sentence in ‘Sex on the Square’ case

Gov. Rick Scott has appointed local attorney Paul Militello to serve as a county judge in Sumter County.

Militello, 51, of Ocala, will fill a vacancy left by retired County Judge Thomas Skidmore, who is probably best known in The Villages for the sentencing in the now-infamous “Sex on the Square” case. You can read more about that HERE

Militello practices criminal defense law out of his Inverness-based firm, Paul Militello, P.A. He began his legal career in 1993 as an assistant state attorney, according to the press release, and began practicing privately in 1997 at Carney & Militello, P.A., and then Militello & Militello, P.A.

Militello is an alumnus of the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He is also a past president of the Citrus County Bar Association.
