Three dead in two-vehicle collision in Citrus County

An 22-year-old Ocala man and a 22-year-old Inverness woman were declared dead at the scene of a two-vehicle collision at 4:40 p.m. Monday afternoon in Citrus County.

The woman, who had been driving their vehicle, has been identified as Kayla K. Wood. The Ocala man has been identified as Tydree Najee Barrow, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 3-year-old passenger in their vehicle, Laveah Atkins of Inverness, suffered serious injuries and  was transported to UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Their vehicle had traveled into the path of a vehicle driven by 15-year-old Senecia Werling of Lecanto. Werlilng suffered serious injuries and was transported to Citrus Memorial Hospital.

A passenger in her car ,78-year-old Carmencita Chastin of Homosassa, was transported to UF Shands Hospital where she later died.

Three other passengers in Werling’s vehicle also suffered serious injuries. They were 13-year-old Sarah Werling of Lecanto who was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital; 54-year-old Violeta Werling of Lecanto transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center; and 57-year-old Petroila Surtis of Homossasa. The report did not indicate to which hospital Surtis was transported.
