Ocala man loses control of vehicle, strikes tree during pursuit by law enforcement

A 28-year-old Ocala man fleeing from law enforcement suffered injuries when his vehicle struck a tree after he lost control of it.

Devin Bennett had been driving a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse at 9:54 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 41 when he was being pursued by a Levy County sheriff’s deputy, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Bennett hit the gas when the deputy activated his emergency lights, but lost control of his vehicle before it hit the tree.

Bennett was transported to UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
