A 36-year-old Ocala woman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that occurred Friday afternoon.

Dawn Haas had been driving a 2016 four-door Chevy at 4:15 p.m. Friday at State Road 200 and SW 95th Circle in Marion County when her vehicle struck a 2013 Hyundai SUV driven by Bernadette Carson, 70, of Ocala, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Haas’ vehicle left the roadway and overturned. Witnesses helped Haas out of her vehicle and then began to assist Carson. Haas fled the scene, but was located by a Marion County sheriff’s deputy at a nearby Wal-Mart.

Haas then began to complain of injuries and requested that EMS transport her to the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, Haas fled on foot. An alert was issued to local agencies and members of the Ocala Police Department located Haas at her residence and held her until FHP arrived. She was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.

She is facing charges of careless driving, leaving the scene of a traffic crash, driving while license suspended and resisting arrest without violence.
