A 25-year-old Ohio man was arrested after he was found Saturday morning on property in Oxford with a suspicious story.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called to County Road 210 after a property owner confronted Brandon Elijah Morgan of Manchester, Ohio. The property owner had spotted his shed door open and went to investigate. Morgan took off running and jumped over fences in the rural area, according to an arrest report from the sheriff’s office. Morgan had also reportedly been looking in a vehicle’s windows.

Morgan claimed he lived in the area and that he had been looking for his girlfriend. However, longtime residents said Morgan did not live in the area.

There had reportedly been several burglaries in the area the previous two days. Morgan was arrested on a charge of loitering/prowling and booked at the Sumter County Detention on $500 bond.
