Ohio Gov. John Kasich is coming to The Villages later this month.
The 2016 GOP presidential candidate will be signing copies of his book, “Two Paths: America Divided or United,” at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 25 at Barnes & Noble at Lake Sumter Landing.
Kasich eventually lost to now-President Donald Trump and did not attend last summer’s GOP convention in Cleveland.
But after a meeting with Trump in February, Kasich struck a more conciliatory tone.
“The man is the president of the United States. It’s sort of like being on an airplane. You want to root for the pilot. You don’t want the pilot to screw up,” said Kasich, who had refused to campaign and vote for Trump.
Kasich voted for John McCain this past November.
Kasich is said to be a potential White House contender again in 2020. The Villages has been a stop-off for others who have mulled their political futures, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and Dr. Ben Carson, who was at the top of the polls when he visited The Villages.
Kasich is the 69th and current governor of Ohio. First elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2014, His second term is set to end on January 14, 2019, due to term limits. He served in Congress from 1983 to 2001 and served as House budget chairman from 1995 to 2001.
