There is good health news for Gerri Piscitelli, president of the Opera Club of the Villages, who will help bring a remarkable young talent here.
Lyric tenor Fanyong Du will perform “Opera Fantasia” in a concert labeled “Catch A Rising Star” on Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. in the La Hacienda Recreation Center.
Du is currently on two, international tours and is gaining popularity worldwide. He will be accompanied by Maestro Bill Doherty and Ms. Binna Han.
Piscitelli, meanwhile, recently underwent major surgery and stated “I’m feeling pretty good, and certainly blessed that all went well.”
Piscitelli has been a driving force to bring opera to The Villages and support young performers.
Fanyong Du is one of them.
He was born in China, raised in Russia and has performed throughout the world. Maestro Doherty spotted him at a singing competition in New York and brought him to The Villages.
On stage, Du is an expressive performer, bringing the lyrics alive with expressions and vocal dexterity.
