Oxford Downs bets on Villagers’ enthusiasm for card games

For the card-playing enthusiasts in The Villages, the trip to find a card game just got a lot shorter.

Oxford Downs opened its doors this past summer.  The venue offers a variety of poker games and even has an outdoor race track for horses. The card room is located near the Sumter-Marion County line near Brown’s Country Market.

Previously, the only options for Villagers looking to play in a card room were in Reddick/Ocala (approximately an hour away), Daytona (approximately 1.5 hours away), and Tampa (approximately 2 hours away).

With its proximity to The Villages, the new room hopes to capitalize on its location by offering a closer alternative to its card-room counterparts across the state.

For all those looking for an early morning or late night of card playing, the room will accommodate, opening as early as 10 a.m. each day and closing as late as 4 a.m. on the weekends.
