Two men were arrested after one of the men was spotted throwing a beer can out of a vehicle traveling on State Road 44.
The vehicle attracted the attention of a Wildwood police officer at 7:30 p.m. Sunday as two of its tires were traveling in the bicycle lane of the roadway.
The officer then saw a partially filled Modelo beer can being thrown out of the vehicle.
The driver was identified as 19-year-old Samuel Gallegos Santiago and the passenger was identified as 40-year-old Samuel Olivo Gallegos.
The vehicle’s seats were saturated with beer. There was a cold 18-pack of Modelo beer on the center seat with only four beers left inside the box. There was also an open can of beer within reach of the driver. Both men refused to obey commands from the police officer.
The 19-year-old refused to participate in field sobriety exercises and would not provide a breath sample.
Both men were arrested and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
