Two men were arrested after they were found to be in possession of marijuana during a traffic stop in the parking lot of Walgreens at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 at Rolling Acres Road in Lady Lake.

Jose Luis Maldonado-Gomez, 31, at about 7 p.m. Friday had been driving a truck that was towing a trailer that had only one working taillight, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

As a police officer approached the vehicle, the odor of marijuana was detected.

Maldonado-Gomez admitted to police that he does not have a driver’s license and has never had one.

He and a passenger, 35-year-old Luis Derceo Romero, were detained by police.

A search of the truck turned up an eyeglass case which contained marijuana. The men admitted the marijuana belonged to them and said that they share marijuana after they finish work, the report indicated.

Both men were arrested on charges of possession of marijuana. Maldonado-Gomez was also charged with driving without a license.

Both men were booked at the Lake County Jail.
