Panhandler with methamphetamine arrested at Winn-Dixie in The Villages

A panhandler with methamphetamine was arrested Friday at a Winn-Dixie supermarket in The Villages.

Lady Lake police were alerted shortly before noon about a panhandler on Bichara Boulevard.

An officer caught up with a man fitting the description, 30-year-old Dylan Fleming of Ocala, at the Winn-Dixie grocery store at La Plaza Grande shopping center, according to an arrest report.

A check revealed that Fleming was wanted on a Marion County warrant charging him with failure to appear. He had been carrying a large Hallmark bag that contained a cigarette pack with papers folded up and a white crystal substance that field tested positive as methamphetamine.

The California native was taken into custody on charge of possession of methamphetamine. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $2,000 bond.
