Passenger thrown from golf cart in T-bone collision with car

A passenger was thrown from a golf cart in a collision with a car Friday morning.

The collision occurred at 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Palma Drive and Lisbon Lane in the Village of Rio Grande. The car had been traveling east on Palma Drive and the golf cart had been heading north on Lisbon Lane. Once both vehicles approached the intersection, the car failed to yield to the golf cart at a stop sign and pulled out in front of the golf cart, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The golf cart T-boned the car.

The passenger of the golf cart was ejected from the cart and transported to The Villages Regional Hospital with non-life threatening head injuries. The driver of the car was cited as at fault.
