Who should pay for the $1.47 million project to shore up the embankment that supports the Morse Boulevard bridge?
That will be part of the discussion Monday morning when the Project Wide Advisory Committee meets to green light a rock revetment project that would shore up the embankment which has experienced sloughing over the past few years.
In an earlier meeting, PWAC members favored the most of expensive of three options presented by Kimley-Horn Associates Inc. That option presented a long-term solution with no ongoing maintenance.
Who do you think should be responsible for funding the embankment? Take our poll:
When PWAC meets at 9 a.m. Monday at the District Office at Lake Sumter Landing, they will be directing Kimley-Horn to conduct survey data collection, design, permitting and construction phase services for the rock revetment project. The cost for Kimley-Horn to complete the project is not to exceed $159,000.
Also, to be discussed is a suggestion from Community Development District 7 that CDDs 1, 2, 3 and 4 step up and share in the costs of the shoring up of the bridge embankment.
PWAC is made up of representatives from CDDs 5 through 10.
In previous discussions, it has been suggested that all residents of The Villages should help pay for the project because all residents of The Villages use the bridge.
