Peter Robert Burns, 70, Lady Lake, Florida passed away on October 12, 2016 at his residence in Lady Lake, Florida. Mr. Burns was born on July 31, 1946 in Middletown, New Jersey to his parents James J. Burns and Louise (Therkoff) Burns. Mr. Burns moved to Lake County in 1974 from West Palm Beach, Florida. He was a Professional Golfer and owned The Lakes Golf Course in Lady Lake, The Preserve Golf and Country Club in Dunnellon, Florida. He was a proud Life member of the P.G.A. (Professional Golfers Association) and was of the Christian faith. Pete graduated from Middletown Township High School, Middletown N.J. in 1963 and graduated from Glassboro College in 1967 and taught school before moving to South Florida in the mid 1970’s. Pete is survived by his cousins: Patricia Borg of Stuart, FL and William Cooper of Boca Raton, FL. He is preceded in death by his brother, James J. Burns, Jr., mother, Louise Burns, father, James J. Burns and a sister, Leah Weismann. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to The First Tee for developing and introducing youngsters to the world of Golf which Pete truly loved at https://thefirsttee.org. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 4 p.m. at Page-Theus Funeral Home Chapel, Leesburg, Florida with a Gathering prior to the service from 3 p.m. till the hour of service at the funeral home.
