Collection of debris left behind by Hurricane Irma could begin as early as Thursday, Oct. 5 in Community Development Districts 5, 6, 7, 8 and 12.
The District Office announced this week that pickup would begin in these areas once the debris collection is complete north of County Road 466.
There are currently 20 trucks with trailers and seven loaders that are working throughout the community to collect storm debris. They are working seven days per week from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The debris hauler will only visit each area one time.Â
The District Office continues to remind residents not to take debris to recreation centers or postal facilities.
For those Sumter County residents that wish to drop off debris, a temporary disposal site has been established by Sumter County on CR 528 in Sumterville. Lake County residents can visit the following link for debris drop-off locations:  https://www.lakecountyfl.gov/departments/public_works/solid_waste/storm_debris.aspx
