Police look for golf cart involved in accident on Paige Place

A 2001 Chevy Silverado was hit by a golf cart at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday on Paige Place.

The driver of the truck, Alyssa L. Barefield, 25, of Dunnellon, told police a custom red golf cart hit the right side of her truck.

When she stopped, the golf cart driver began yelling at Barefield and a passenger in the truck, 38-year-old Wendy L. Tundis of Summerfield, told police. They continued onto The Villages Regional Hospital to see a sick relative.

The women told police that the golf cart driver “reeked with an odor similar to beer and rum and seemed drunk,” according to the accident report from Lady Lake Police Department.

The golf cart driver followed them continuing to demand they pay for damage to his cart and threatened to call the police. Barefield then told the golf cart driver she was calling the police. Upon hearing this, the golf cart driver fled the area, according to the accident report.

Officers were unable to locate the golf cart and driver who was described as being 5 feet 9 inches tall, approximately in his 40s and wearing khaki shorts, a button-up green shirt and sandals.
