A Lady Lake police officer chased down a man suspected of stealing a cell phone Wednesday morning at Best Buy.

David Dean Shrout, 46, of Fruitland Park, entered the store, selected a phone and then entered the handicap stall in the men’s room at the store, according to an arrest report. A store employee detected the sound of plastic packaging being opened. As Shrout attempted to leave the store, Best Buy personnel tried to stop him, but he pushed past them and took off running.
