Police track down hit-and-run suspect at popular restaurant at Brownwood Paddock Square

Police tracked down a hit-and-run suspect Monday afternoon at a popular restaurant at Brownwood Paddock Square.

Brittany Ann Lucas

A woman contacted Wildwood police, after her vehicle was struck by a maroon Dodge Ram at the Sunoco service station on State Road 44. The woman told police the driver of the Dodge Ram told her that she does not have a license, works “three jobs and that her mother has two big businesses,” according to an arrest report. The driver of the Dodge Ram made a phone call, presumably to her mother, and after a brief conversation, got into the vehicle and drove away, the arrest report said.

The driver of the Dodge Ram was described as having long, brown, braided hair, about 20 to 30 years old and the victim of the hit-and-run provided one other important clue – she was wearing a green T-shirt from McAlister’s Deli.

A police officer went to the restaurant at Brownwood and learned 29-year-old Brittany Ann Lucas was employed at McAlister’s. He then saw the Dodge Ram, which had front-end damage, driving toward him and initiated a traffic stop.

The officer found that Lucas does not have a driver’s license and has multiple convictions for driving while license suspended.

Lucas was arrested on felony charges of hit-and-run and driving while license suspended.

She is also charged with violating her probation.

She was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
