Polls paint gloomy picture for Amendment 2

Not one but two polls just out paint a gloomy picture for Amendment 2.
A poll commissioned by SaintPetersBlog and taken by St. Pete Polls, unveiled on Monday, shows 52 percent of those surveyed support Amendment 2, the proposal to expand medical marijuana and embed it in the Constitution; 39 percent oppose it and the remaining voters are undecided. When the undecided voters are asked if they are leaning one way or the other, opposition to Amendment 2 creeps up to 40.1 percent while support moves up to 54 percent with the remainder of voters staying undecided.
The St. Pete Polls survey of 3,128 Florida registered voters who said they were planning to vote in the election was taken Oct. 8-11 and had a margin of error of +/- 1.8 percent.
Another poll released Monday shows Amendment 2 in similar serious jeopardy with almost enough opposition already in place to defeat it.
Gravis Marketing released a survey which shows a majority back Amendment 2 but, once again, support cannot break the 60 percent threshold needed to pass. In the Gravis poll, 55 percent say they will back Amendment 2.
The Gravis poll also shows opposition to Amendment 2 is firming up as 39 percent are opposed to it and 7 percent remain undecided.
The poll of 1,023 registered voters in Florida, most of whom say they are very likely to vote, was taken Oct. 11-12 and had a margin of error of +/- 3 percent.
s recently as late August, Amendment 2 was doing well in Gravis polls, taking 62 percent with barely a quarter of those surveyed — 26 percent — against the proposal.
