Tricia Bennett may be leaving America but she wants to leave something of herself behind – 3,000 books.
Bennett, who with her husband John operated Polly’s Pantry Tearoom in Wildwood, will donate 3,000 of her books to an organization.
She has written a series of fictional books over the years. The couple had to leave the U.S. after their visas were not renewed. They had operated Polly’s Pantry Tearoom for a decade.
“We have to go back to England in four weeks, and we can’t take the books with us,” John Bennett said. He added the books must be picked up, because they cannot be delivered. “We hope we can find an organization that can use these books.”

Among the books are: “Polly Brown” and “The Trouble with Polly Brown.” A third book, “Princess Polly” is aimed at younger children. The books tell, “about a little girl living in an orphanage who learns, with some help, that dreams can come true.”
The books, suitable for ages 11 and up, tell the adventures of Polly Brown, a young girl who grows up in England. One critic described the books having “shades of Narnia and Oliver Twist,” adding the books, “encourage and inspire true values.”
