The Project Wide Advisory Committee has essentially killed sideline striping on the multi-modal paths.
The vote was 4-2 in a meeting held Monday morning at the District Office at Lake Sumter Landing.
PWAC, made up of representatives from CDDs 5 to 10, has been wrestling with the polarizing issue for many months.
CDD 7 Supervisor Ron Ruggeri made a motion to go forward with sideline striping, and his motion was seconded by CDD 5 Supervisor Chuck Wildzunas.
PWAC Chairman and CDD 6 Supervisor Peter Moeller voted against it along with CDD 8 and CDD 9 Supervisors Dennis Hayes and Steve Printz.
That put CDD 10 Supervisor Don Wiley in the hot seat. Earlier in the meeting Wiley had indicated he personally believed that residents want side striping.
“But I have to follow the direction of my board,” he said.
His “no” vote brought the final tally to 4-2.
Ruggeri then questioned whether the scheduled Sept. 21 meeting of the Multi-Modal Path Discussion Group should take place.
The chairman indicated it would.
“We should close this issue,” Moeller said.
The Multi-Modal Path Discussion Group includes representation from CDDs 1 through 4 and the Amenity Authority Committee.
