Railway work to prompt temporary road closures near Summerfield beginning Monday

Motorists traveling in southeastern Marion County, particularly near the Summerfield area,  will experience temporary road closures at the railway crossings of Southeast 135th Street, Southeast 147th Street and Southeast Highway 42 from Jan. 23 to 27, due to railroad crossing maintenance.

The three intersections will be closed simultaneously with detours routing traffic via County Road 42, Southeast 132nd Street Road, U.S. Highway 301 and U.S. Highway 441.

CSX crews will work with the Florida Department of Transportation to acquire the necessary right-of-ways and place barricades and signage directing traffic around the work zones. Travelers should expect delays and use alternate routes when possible. Adverse weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances may affect the work schedule. For more information, contact the Office of the County Engineer at 352-671-8686.
