Ralph Kent Voelker, 74, of The Villages, FL, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 after a valiant struggle with ALS. He was born in McKeesport, PA to the late Ralph and Vivian Milton Voelker.
He grew up in McKeesport, graduating from McKeesport High School; he attended Penn State, enlisted in the Navy and then graduated from Catholic University after his military service. While in the Navy her served in Vietnam, as a commissioning crew member of the USS America and then served the USS Forestal.
Ralph was a computer specialist and worked for several companies, owned his own computer consulting company before working at the Veterans Administration in Pittsburgh where he retired.
Ralph and his wife Susan had moved to The Villages in 2004 from Pittsburgh, PA. He was extremely gregarious and enjoyed dancing, he and Susan were known as Fred and Ginger and Katie Belle’s. Ralph was also a sports nut; he loved competition, mostly his teams from Pittsburgh, cards, billiards and golf. He and Susan loved to travel both in the United States and internationally. Ralph was always active, going to Disney, engaging in activities and enjoying life to the fullest. He was a very kind man and took great care of his mother-in law.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 42 years, Susan Sokol Voelker.; sister, Jacqueline; cousin, Ralph Connor; uncle, Tom Connor.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the funeral home. The family will receive friends afterwards til 12 Noon. Interment at Florida National Cemetery will follow.
