To the Editor:
I’ve lived at The Villages for just over two years and until recently never saw a rat. In the past few days I’ve seen them at Volusia Golf Course, Havana Golf Course and today at Belmont Golf Course. In each case the rats are not scurrying around. They are STROLLING around. There are so many they’ve become brazen. I thought mice and rats usually scurry around next to walls. Not at The Villages. The rat I saw today walked casually along the cart path at the starters booth at Belmont Golf Course. On Wednesday, a large rat “strolled” by the putting green. So, my question is, what is The Villages going to do about it? Is having rats everywhere the new norm at The Villages? Home of America’s friendliest rats?
One other question/complaint: Isn’t the “dump” off Moyer Loop only for construction material? If so, why, for the past 2 weeks, has the Volusia Golf Course smelled SO badly and why are the turkey vultures circling overhead? Is the “construction material” decomposing?
