Release of accident report sheds light on five-vehicle pileup

An accident report has been released by the Lady Lake Police Department, shedding light on Monday’s five-vehicle pileup at County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road.

Those injured in the accident were 76-year-old John Raynolds of the Villages and 33-year-old Ricardo Carlington Thompson of Wildwood. Raynolds, who had suffered a head injury, was transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center, but while en route, the ambulance was involved in another accident when it was rear-ended on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 near the Boone Gate. Thompson was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital.

Ticketed in the accident was Bryan Lavern Dietrich, 56, of Wesley Chapel. He was cited for careless driving.

Other drivers involved in the accident were 30-year-old Vanessa Marie O’Connor of Oxford and 52-year-old Roger Schmidt of New Smyrna Beach. They were not injured.
