Two Village of Santo Domingo residents appealed to Community Development District 2 supervisors for golf cart path striping.
Villager Sandy Ritchie told supervisors Friday morning that she had heard that CDD 4 had recently put down striping. She asked why the same thing couldn’t be done in CDD 2.
CDD 2 Chairman John Blum explained that supervisors had turned down the offer from the Amenity Authority Committee to pay for striping. The striping in CDD 4 cost about $3,200.
CDD 1 and CDD 3 also turned down the striping offer from the AAC. Arguments against striping included lack of consistency throughout The Villages.
Shirley Minier, also of the Village of Santo Domingo, said she attends choir practice Wednesday nights at New Covenant United Methodist Church.
“It can be dark and dangerous on the golf cart path,” Minier said. “I think striping would make it safer. I am afraid there is going to be a bad accident.”
At Friday afternoon’s CDD 4 meeting, two residents publicly expressed their thanks to supervisors for striping their golf cart paths.
CDD 4 Chairman Jim Murphy said the majority of residents are pleased with the striping.
