Villager Gregory Wildridge, who has a background in law enforcement and driver education, said it’s a safety issue. He spoke before the board Friday morning at its meeting at Lake Miona Recreation Center.

He said he has driven through CDD 4 which has put down striping on its paths.

“Wow! What a difference,” he said.

Rick Sutherland of the Village of Sunset Pointe agreed that striping would be beneficial.

“It’s almost impossible to see at night,” he said.

CDD 5 Supervisor Gerald Ferlisi distributed copies of a survey conducted by the Property Owners Association regarding the issue of striping. The survey of POA members indicated the majority of those surveyed were in favor of some type of striping.

“I understand surveys are going on in other districts, and I think they are all going to get the same result,” Ferlisi said.

Supervisor Gary Kadow said it’s clear that residents want a voice on this issue.

“We need to hear what the people have to say,” Kadow said.

The issue of striping will be part of a Villages-wide discussion in May.

The Multi-Modal Path Discussion Group Workshop has been set for 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 5 at Eisenhower Recreation Center.
