To the Editor:
You may agree or maybe disagree, but the subject of children of homeowners living in The Villages and having their 19-40 something living with them (not a 30-day visit) full time. I can see if a son or daughter comes here to care for their older and sick or disabled parents but how many do you think are living with parents on the free load? Parents should be responsible and lay the law down to them, don’t let them take advantage of you. Give them a reasonable time to get on their feet and I don’t mean from a DUI, drug bust or a spouse throwing them out because their drunks, or abusive of them or the kids. Wake up and read the online news or the paper, who are the ones getting in trouble, destroying golf courses, theft in homes of weak or elderly, robbing stores and car parts? There should be a revision of deed restrictions concerning the carrying on with the delinquent persons, sponging off of, instead of helping them. Give Mom and Dad a break, “visit” and offer to weed the garden or empty the gutters or just sit and enjoy what time you have with them; don’t cause heartache, just because you know they will love you no matter what. Don’t take advantage. Make them proud of you, not ashamed of you. Every parent wants to be proud of their children they raised, not still raising adults that act worse than kids. I don’t want to offend anyone, but people must wake-up and see things for what they are, not as we would want them to be, that takes responsibility on everyone’s part not just a few. Thanks for letting me vent.
