Richard Chalkley, 87, of The Villages, FL, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014. Richard was born in Richmond, Virginia and lived there all his life until moving to Florida in 1985. Richard proudly served his country in WWII in the Navy. He worked for the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for over 37 years. He was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jean Moore Chalkley; children, Walt Chalkley(Debra), Jim Chalkley(Sharon), Carole Harper(Jeff), Chris Chalkley (Sally); six grandchildren; Katrina Arnott, Jamie Gahun, Scott Chalkley, Erin Rakestraw, Erica Fernandez, Brian Chalkley and four great grandchildren, Rachel Gahun, Seth Rakestraw, Joshua Rakestraw, Derek Arnott. Arrangements in Richmond, Virginia are being handled by Bliley’s Funeral Home, Chippenham Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 24, 2014 from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10 AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Dale Memorial Park. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Immanuel Baptist Church. 8015 SE 180th St., CR 102, Oxford, Florida 34484. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11 AM at Immanuel Baptist Church with Mike Dameron officiating.
