Rita Carolyn Evans, 85, Summerfield, Florida, died July 28, 2014. Mrs. Evans was born in Trenton, NJ and graduated from the Katharine Gibbs School in New York City. She worked in various positions throughout her lifetime, lastly as an Executive Assistant for an international company. She lived in Japan, where she had the opportunity to be an extra in the movie “The Last Voyage”, living right on the old luxury liner “Ile de France”. She also lived in California, North Carolina, Washington, D.C. and Virginia, where she worked for a British diplomat and resided on an 8 million estate. She moved from New Hope, PA to the retirement community of Stonecrest in Florida in 1999. She loved opera, piano, animals, travel and gardening. She headed up the Travel Club at Stonecrest for many years as well as the hard back section of their library. She is survived by her son Mark Evans, Reston, Virginia, sister Carol Stawski, Pennington, NJ, and brother Owen Evans, Trumbull, CT. Visiting hours will be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 2 – 4 p.m.
