Robert ‘BigCat’ Smith

Robert “BigCat” Smith, 78, of Del Webb Spruce Creek Country Club, Summerfield, FL, passed away on June 11, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

Robert was born in Boston, MA on April 19, 1939. He was U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Germany from 1956 to 1960. He went on to to work in the U.S. Courts and retired from the U.S. District Court, as the Clerk of Courts for the District of Massachusetts. He was an accomplished golfer and softball player.

He is survived by his longtime companion Carole Gundry of Summerfield, FL, sons Gary D. Smith and wife Paula of Plymouth, MA, Richard T. Smith and his wife Shelley of Plymouth, MA, Marc D. Smith of Long Beach, CA, and daughter Michelle C. Smith of Wyndham, ME. He also had five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 16th at 11 a.m. in the Del Webb Spruce Creek Community Center.
