Robert ‘Bob’ Bruce Kitt

Captain Robert Bruce Kitt, USN (Retired), died October 18, 2014, in Lady Lake, FL. He was born in South Dakota in 1920 and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Oklahoma A&M College before being recommended to the US Naval Academy in 1940, graduating in 1943 (Class of 1944). Robert served his country with distinction through WWII and Vietnam and retired in 1973. He was a land surveyor in New Hampshire before moving to Lady Lake in 1987. Robert was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Rita F. McGrath, of Everett, MA, a registered nurse and Navy Nurse Corps officer. He is survived by their son Bruce Kitt and his wife, Debbie, of Eden Prairie MN and their daughter, Becky Collins and her husband, Donald, of Stamford CT; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Beyers Funeral Home on Monday, November 18th at 11:00 a.m.. His cremains will be inurned at 1:00 p.m., in the Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Villages Honor Flight, PO Box 490, Lady Lake FL 32158 or Leesburg Humane Society, 41250 Emeralda Island Rd, Leesburg FL 34788.
