Robert “Bob” Thomas Robitaille, 85, of The Villages peacefully and painlessly passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 while under the care of hospice. Robert was a devoted member of Hope Lutheran Church in The Villages.
Bob was born in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada on February 21, 1932, becoming a proud citizen of the U.S. in 1961. As a young man he worked on the cruise ship Assiniboia on the Great Lakes. He enjoyed snow skiing where he met his wife Margie. He raised his family in the Cleveland, Ohio area while working 42 years for the East Ohio Gas Company as a print shop manager. After moving to The Villages in 2002, he enjoyed many years as Mr. Tags with Clown Alley and the Steeple Peeple. He also enjoyed the Rose Club and playing cards and mahjong with family and friends. His kindness and optimism will always be remembered as well as his encouragement to others. He was a very devoted son, husband, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Margie Robitaille (nee Graves) and his son Robert R. (Cara) Robitaille; two grandsons Logan and Avery. Also survived by his siblings Peg Beausoleil, Paul (Shirley), Brenda (Butch) Boudreau, Joe (Marlene), and Judy (Gerry) Michaud.
He is preceded in death by his father Joseph Alric and Gertrude Robitaille (nee Grace). Also preceded in death by his siblings Hugh, Elaine, Angele, John, Joan-Elizabeth, Charles, Douglas, and Gordon.
A memorial service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 250 Avenida Los Angelos, The Villages, FL 32162 on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Lutheran Church, address above.
