U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan reunited with 2012 GOP running mate Mitt Romney this week in Chicago as part of the Congressman’s national book tour.
The event was a Romney-moderated interview with Ryan about his new book, “The Way Forward, Renewing the American Idea,” at the Union League Club of Chicago.
During the event, both men took jabs at President Obama.
Saturday’s Ryan book tour includes a stop in The Villages.
Those hoping to meet Ryan and have him sign a copy of the book he is promoting, are being advised to be at Barnes & Noble in Lake Sumter Landing by 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Ryan is scheduled to be here at 3:30 p.m.
There will be no wristbands. Those attending will line up in the order in which they arrive, according to a spokesperson for Barnes & Noble.
Protesters may greet Ryan in Villages
The Village Democrats and the Tri-County Unified Progressives are among local groups planning to protest at the Ryan book event.
“His plan proposes to privatize Social Security, make a privatized voucher system out of Medicare and otherwise dismantle our social safety net in favor of his trickle down favor the rich politics,” said Gary Green, one of the people planning to protest the Ryan appearance.
