Rose Farrell Taylor, age 91, born in Babylon, NY in 1925 a longtime resident of Hialeah and Lady Lake, FL died on March 1, 2017. A Floridian since 1930. Graduate of Miami Edison High School and member of the Alumni Group, “Over the Hill Gang”, honor graduate of Miami Dade State College and Florida International University.
In her long life, she was a Former Model, Private School Executive, Dade County substitute teacher, Chairman Dade County March of Dimes, Episcopal Church Women President, Vestry person for Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Miami and Holy Trinity, Fruitland Park and member of St. George Episcopal Church in The Villages.
She was an avid bowler, known and worked in most Bowling Centers in Dade and Broward Counties. While living in The Villages, Harold Schwartz, original developer of The Villages, personally interviewed and hired her as one of the first employees of the Spanish Springs Bowling Center in The Villages. The structure was under construction as they leaned on 2 “saw horses”, looking up into the sky, as it had no roof, discussing her duties. She then graced the front desk for the next 10 years, until 2005, when she retired after open heart surgery at the young age of 80. She passed away in Hendersonville, NC at Mt. View Memory Care Facility on March 1, 2017 at the age of 91.
Survived by three daughters, Rose Anne Stone of Hendersonville, N.C., Shannon Elizabeth Schell of The Villages, FL, Melanie Anne Hayes of Jupiter, FL. Seven grandchildren, Byron Goolsby, Eric Goolsby, Fr. Bob Goolsby, Brian Schell, Andrea Sellers, Megan Hayes and Ryan Hayes. and seven great-grandchildren, Hannah Goolsby, Christian Goolsby, Britton Goolsby, Erica Goolsby, Zachary Goolsby, Alyssa Sellers and Austin Sellers.
Services will be held at St. George Episcopal Church 1250 Paige Place, The Villages on April 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. with interment immediately following in the Church Memorial Garden and a celebration of her life continuing in the Parish Hall.
