Rufus Brown Jr.

Rufus-Brown-JrRufus Brown Jr., son of the late Rufus and Lucille Brown was born on December 27, 1937 in Chicago Illinois. He departed this life on November 12, 2013. Rufus received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Hawaii and his masters’ degree in Marriage Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. Rufus was a retired military officer, who served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he continued his career with the Federal Government for an additional 14 years until his final retirement from the workforce on November 3, 1997. Rufus loved his family with all his heart. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary (Toonie) Brown and his brother William. In 2009, Rufus was blessed with another love, Myrna Cohn who he married on December 19, 2009. Rufus leaves to cherish his memory: Myrna Cohn, wife, his five children, Michael S. Brown (Stephanie); Craig A. Brown; Cheryl (Elaine) Farrow (Wayne); Anthony G. Brown (Michelle); and Richard L. Brown (Laurel); a stepson, Nyamekye (Nym) Kufuo (Vivian); nine grandchildren, Misty Brown; David Brown; Robert Green; Christopher Green; Anthony Brown; Devondre Hicks; Makiyah Brown; Jessica Brown; and Kathryn Brown, five step-grandchildren, Morowa Kufuo; Adia Sabur; Jonae Garrett; Quinita Garrett; and Joseph Garrett; and three great-grandchildren, Isayah Franklin, Aryana Franklin, and Karsyn Hart; a brother, Loid Brown (Eunice); sister/daughter, Marilyn Brown (Al); and numerous relatives and friends. A memorial service for Mr. Brown will be held on Monday November 18, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, Lady Lake, FL. Repast Chatham Recreational Center The Villages, FL.
