Lady Lake commissioners have allowed a planned RV/boat storage facility to move forward despite a plan for a modular office building that does not meet the town’s land development regulations.
The 60-unit RV/boat storage facility is planned for 917 Teague Trail (County Road 25.) The plan calls for a 364-square-foot office building.
The owners, Phillip and Donna Willman, sought a waiver, as the building did not meet the town’s land development regulations.
Three commissioners expressed concerns about the building when it was up for consideration on Wednesday evening.
“They call it ‘modular,’ you could call it a trailer,” said Commissioner Paul Hannan.
Commissioner Dan Vincent feared that by approving the plan, the town would be setting a precedent.
“Next thing you know, ‘Joe’s Used Car Lot’ will want a modular building,” he said.
Chris Zipperrer of Senatore Inc., representing the Williams said construction of a building would be “cost prohibitive.”
The commission opted to go along with the project, in part because landscaping would obstruct the public’s view of the building.
