School bus driver ticketed in collision in Alachua County

A school bus driver was ticketed after colliding with another vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Alachua County.

Donovan Lamart White, 28, of Gainesville was driving an Alachua County school bus northbound at the 387 exit ramp from Interstate 75 and entered the right turn lane to travel eastbound on West Newberry Road. Catherine Grace Boon, 46, of Gainesville was driving a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta and had just entered the right turn lane ahead of the school bus before coming to a complete stop to wait for traffic to clear, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. The school bus did not stop in time, causing the collision between both vehicles, the report stated.

One child was on board on the school bus and no injuries were reported. White was ticketed for careless driving.
