To the Editor:
Just got back from Christmas tree lighting at Brownwood. While I was there, I noticed four seats “covered” with someone’s blanket. I asked one of the Villages “crowd control” helpers (my designation, not the official one) if he saw those seats being saved. I asked him if he could tell the “seat savers” that this was not supposed to be done. He said, “No, they aren’t supposed to save seats but I can’t tell them not to.” WHAT??? if it is a “policy” and not a “courtesy,” then why can’t he “enforce” it, with a polite, “you can’t do that…” to whoever the perpetrator is? He can, however, tell me where I can or cannot stand or sit, but can’t tell me not to save seats. Now, is it, or isn’t it a “policy”? I hear it “announced” at the Squares that saving seats isn’t permitted, but, apparently NO ONE will or can enforce it. Either it IS policy, or it ISN’T. Can anyone clear this up?
