Section of Interstate 75 shut down after three-vehicle crash in Alachua County

A section of Interstate 75 was shut down after a three-vehicle crash Friday night in Alachua County.

Samantha A. Pac, 23, of Newberry had been driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla at 7:57 p.m. southbound on I-75 near Mile Marker 387 when her vehicle left her lane and collided with a semi driven by Frederick Schuh, 57, of Orlando, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Pac then overcorrected and her vehicle left the roadway and struck a guardrail. Another semi, driven by 47-year-old David McAllister, of Orlando, then struck Pac’s car, the FHP accident report indicated.

The left travel lane of southbound I-75 was closed for cleanup and vehicle removal for approximately 45 minutes. Once all southbound lanes were opened up for travel, the right travel lane of Interstate 75 was closed for Hazmat clean-up because of fuel leaking from the gas tank of McAllister’s semi.

Pac and a passenger in her car, 23-year-old Jessica M. Painter of Gainesville, suffered minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to Shands Hospital.

Charges are pending, the FHP report noted.
